Fiddle Weekend 1st-3 March 2013- Pete Clark

This workshop will be led by Pete Clark.

PETE CLARK is a highly respected performer and teacher.  In concert, he performs solo and with his musical friends who include Jim Leighton (accordion/piano) Gregor Lowrey (accordion), Stevie Gillies (guitar), Ron Shaw (‘cello), Wendy Weatherby (‘cello) and singer Rod Paterson.  He also features with Gregor and Rod in the line-up of Bring in the Spirit, a band which also includes singer Kirsten Easdale and multi-instrumentalist Marc Duff.

As a teacher, Pete is in great demand at home and abroad.  In addition to the Moffat Masterclasses he is a tutor at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (formerly the RSAMD – Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama) in Glasgow and runs a weekly fiddle class (and his own biannual Dunkeld Bridge Fiddle Week courses in May and September) at the Taybank in Dunkeld.

In his teaching, Pete focuses on technique and tone, bowing patterns, phrasing and ornamentation.  He is highly skilled at adapting his tutorials to suit the needs and abilities of his students.

Pete loves fishing as well as fiddling and, in June every year, combines his two passions on “The Troot Tour”, a week-long extravaganza of “tunes and troots” in the far north ofScotland, along with fellow musician and fly fishing addict Gregor Lowrey.

As director of the annual Niel Gow Festival in Dunkeld & Birnam ( ), Pete helps to promote and sustain the fiddle tradition of highland Perthshire. His recordings include several solo albums and his playing features on many others. For further information, see Pete’s web pages at or go to
